An opportunity is currently available for a Transportation Manager (Asphalt) interested in being part of a dynamic team.

The Asphalt Department’s Transportation Manager is responsible for overseeing of asphalt vehicles and equipment and materials in support of asphalt paving operations.   Responsibilities include managing drivers and independent haulers, and checking for safe ingress, egress and staging area. Must demonstrate a commitment to the safety of our employees and the traveling public.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Promotes a safe working culture for all employees; with safety and field personnel to minimize risk and increase safety for employees at all times.  Ensures that transportation service providers comply with all asphalt plant site specific PPE requirements.  Reports any unsafe acts, incidents, injuries, property damage to the Plant Foreman immediately.  Meets project trucking needs by assigning trucks to facilitate the haul of materials necessary to complete projects safely, on time and within budget.  Ensures that all incoming and outgoing materials are weighed and recorded into the plant Weigh Mate 2000 database accurately and timely for the end of shift export to the company accounting software to be used for accurate material payment, billing and inventory control.  Ensures that all assigned haulers are approved by company standards with insurance compliance and Master Service Agreement’s when applicable.  Maintains a database of broker and individual hauler information by truck type, legal load capacity, LADOTD certification number and contact information on the company shared drive.  Works with the plant crew from startup of daily trucking operations until all daily asphalt department trucking operations cease unless otherwise authorized by the Plant Manager.  Facilitates the load out of materials to ensure compliance with the internal and external customer needs.  Works to ensure that all incoming and outgoing materials are weighed and documented in the plant data system.  Reports the previous day’s transportation cost of material on Boh Bros. asphalt department projects to the Plant Manager by 8:00 a.m. the following work day.  Performs task associated with material transportation record keeping and invoices as directed by the Plant Manager including truck ticket date, time, project number and phase code.  Develops teamwork and foster team spirit within the respective area of authority.       Supports the Plant Manager with the objective of maintaining a clean and neat and orderly plant site to promote a safe and efficient work environment at the asphalt plant facility. 

 

 Administrative

 Must be able to understand and interpret written material, including technical material, state and local transportation rules, regulations, instructions and reports and apply what is learned from written materials to specific situations.  Seeks the approval of the plant manager prior to the use of any company labor, equipment or materials that is not listed on the daily production schedule with an approved job or customer number to apply the cost.  Capable of leading the morning and afternoon JSA (Job Safety Analysis) with the plant crew or with external transportation companies  as necessary.  Ensures incoming plant materials are accounted for as per company policy and stockpiled in the correct location, and stockpile, for the company to receive the maximum benefit of each type of material.

 Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:

Must be capable of receiving  training to operate the Weigh Mate 2000 material load out and data system.

Must be able to communicate effectively with internal and external customers in an appropriate and professional manner. 

Must be able to organize work assignments based on priority as determined through input from the Plant Manager.  

Must have good time management skills.

Must adhere to all Company Safety policies and protocols.

Must be able to work flexible hours when projects require extended hours, night or week end work.

Must have a basic understanding of the electrical system and schematic drawings engineered for the asphalt plant.
